Spring Favourites with Lizzie, Assistant Buyer

Perrault’s Assistant Buyer and Taste Consultant, Lizzie Hyndman has an impressive history as an interior colourist and an enduring eye for beautiful things. We sat down with her to talk about a few of the objects, colours and details she has collected and loved over the years.

My dear friend Jane painted this portrait in the first year of her Fine Arts degree. It’s lovely to see Daisy, our dog and William’s ninth birthday present, whenever I walk past it.

I started collecting eggs a very long time ago. I’m fascinated by their varying colours and materials, and particularly their tactile nature. Two are very precious pounamu eggs that I adore.

This Matouk blanket was a birthday present from William and Clementine and lives on my bed. It is the softest cotton and an absolute favourite.

I have always adored magnolias, from the very early-flowering campbellii to the beautiful, lemon-scented creamy white magnolia I planted at an old home of ours.

I chose Resene Stromboli green for our very dark sitting room at a time when most people were using lighter colours to brighten things up. Instead, the deep green gave the room a wonderfully cosy atmosphere, especially when the fire was lit. Which, in Dunedin, was often.
